Kolkata, Nov 28: Three days after a 19-year-old Jadavpur University’s engineering student drowned into a Hooghly river, his body has been recovered on Sunday.
Deceased Raunak Saha, a second year engineering student, slipped into the Hooghly river when he with his four friends was enjoying a boat ride near the Pani Ghat region on Thursday afternoon. His body could not be traced even after of a thorough search operation by the Kolkata river traffic guard.
On Sunday, Saha’s mortal remains were found underneath the jetty at Fairlie Place Ghat, police said. Saha’s father identified the body. who filed a police complaint against his son’s friends alleging murder.
Police have registered a case after Raunak’s father filed a complaint against his son’s friends alleging murder. “The friends are involved in it. Their families have approached me with cash to settle the matter,” he said.
Meanwhile, Police has questioned with the boatman and the four friends of the victim including two girls, in South Port police station on Thursday evening. The boatman was later apprehended.
However, the exact cause will be ascertained only after the autopsy reports.
