Body found hanging at Rajasthan’s Nahargarh Fort With ‘Padmavati ka Virodh’ Message

Jaipur, Nov 24: In a deadly protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali Padmavati, a dead body was found hanging in Rajasthan’s Nahargarh Fort on Friday with message against the film engraved on stones nearby.

One of the message read ‘Padmavati ka virodh (Opposing Padmavati), while another read ‘Hum putle nahi jalate, latkate hain’ (we don’t burn effigies, we kill).

Theofficers of  Brahmapuri Police station is probing the incident. The identity of the deceased was also yet to be known.

Meanwhile , Shri Rajput Karni Sena has condemned the death and denied involvement in the incident, according to news 18.

Mahipal Singh Makrana, a member of the Rajput Karni Sena which has been spearheading the Padmavati protest, said his outfit did not have anything to do with this.

“This is not our way of protest. I want to tell people not to resort to such methods,”  News 18 quoted , Makrana was saying.

Padmavati has been witnessing flak by various Rajput groups and political leaders, who have accused Bhansali of distorting history.

Amid of controversy, a  BJP leader had also announced a bounty of Rs 10 crore for beheading Bhansali and Deepika.

In “Padmavati”, actor Ranveer Singh is playing role of  Delhi Sultan Alauddin Khilji, which Bhansali says is a tribute to the valour of Rajput queen Padmavati, played by Deepika Padukone.

The release of the film, which was earlier scheduled  for December 1, has been deferred as the filmmakers are yet to secure a censor certificate.
