BJP on witch-hunt to win one Rajya Sabha seat, says Ahmed Patel on Karnataka IT raids

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel on Wednesday called the Income Tax raids conducted at 39 locations in Karnataka including the residential premises of Energy Minister DK Shivakumar, an ‘unprecedented witch-hunt’ by the BJP  to win one Rajya Sabha seat.

Patel who is contesting in Rajya Election also said these raids shows BJP’s  “utter desperation and frustration”.

The IT department carried out searches at over 39 places, including the residential premises of Shivakumar and his brother in Delhi and Bengaluru since morning.

Officials also raided rooms at Eagleton Resort near Bengaluru this morning, where 44 Gujarat Congress MLAs  are currently residing ahead of Rajya Sabha polls in anticipation of cross voting.

Reacting to IT Raids, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told news agency that  “BJP has used every dirty and ugly trick to run a conspiracy to win Rajya Sabha seat in Gujarat.
