New Delhi, July 7: Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nand Kumar Chauhan on Saturday stoked a controversy saying easy access to smartphones and internet are responsible for the increase in the crime rate against women.
While speaking to media, Chauhan said: “I think youngsters these days have easy access to internet and smartphones which allows them to watch obscene content on it”.

“This has a negative impact on their innocent minds. All these facts have been reported in media as well”, the BJP Leader added.
In the recent past, a number of incidents related to sexual crimes against women and minor girls were reported from across the country.
However, this is not the first time a minister has blamed technological advancements for the horrific incidents.
Earlier in April, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh blamed pornographic websites for increasing number of child rape and molestation.
