Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad addressing media on Friday told that Union minister campaigning in the election is not good for the democracy. The leader said, “This new trend since the last 3 and a half years wherein union cabinet minister is being given work of election committees & campaigning, is not good for the democracy & the development of the country.”

The leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha also said,”This is the first time that Winter Session and Budget Session have been held during the same month. This is due to government’s delay in holding them.”

“Only Central Govt is responsible for the impasse during Winter Session. The ruling party did not allow Standing Committee, where every Party is consulted, to scrutinize the Bills introduced by them. Unfortunately, BJP doesn’t believe in parliamentary democracy,” he added.

Meanwhile speaking on the passage of Triple Talaq Bill in Lok Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad said,”The rule is, if Lok Sabha doesn’t send the Bill to Standing Committee, then Rajya Sabha is supposed to send it to Select Committee. For the first time, the Opposition had an overwhelming majority and ruling party had an absolute minority.”

Pointing out the necessity of Select committee he said,” Based on these simple numbers, the Bill was to be sent to the Select Committee. But for the first time, this was opposed by the ruling party. This brazenly displays BJP’s insecurity in democratic procedures.”
