New Delhi, March 26: Even before the Election Commission announced the poll schedule of the high-stakes Karnataka Assembly elections, BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya sparked controversy by tweeting the date of polling and counting.
The BJP IT cell head had tweeted while the press conference was underway, but the poll schedule hadn’t been announced.
Reacting to this, the Chief Election Commissioner said an investigation into the incident will be held and a strict action will be taken accordingly.
“It will be investigated. Be assured that actions legally and administratively befitting will be taken”, Rawat told media.
“Certain things may have leaked for which Election Commission will take appropriate action”, he added.
The election for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly is scheduled to be held on May 12, 2018 and counting of votes will take place on 15 May, 2018.
