Birth Anniversary: Five evergreen hits of Ghazal King ‘Jagjit Singh’

New Delhi, Feb 8: Be it romance or heartbreak, Musical maestro Jagjit Singh’s soulful renditions of ghazals can depict both the expressions very well, as it gives a soulful treat to heart and mind. 

His tone, clear pronunciation and heart melting voice have always managed to leave people mesmerized.

Singh was born on 8 February 1941 in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, to Amar Singh Dhiman and Bachan Kaur. His birth name was Jagmohan but his Sikh father rechristened him as Jagjit following the advice of his guru.

Often known as ‘Ghazal King’, his contribution to the music industry is just splendid and unforgettable.

When Singh stepped into Ghazal industry, it was dominated by Pakistani singers. Because of his soulful voice and dedication, Jagjit Singh soon became one of the most sensational ghazal singers.

The king of Ghazals breathed his last on 10 October 2011.
