Patna, Oct 29, 2016: A day after Supreme Court put a stay on Rocky Yadav’s bail, on Saturday he has surrendered in a Bihar court over killing a class 12 student.
A district police official said, “Rocky, who arrived in Patna from Delhi on Saturday morning, surrendered in the Gaya Civil Court.”
Rocky’s parents were also present in the court.
Rocky was absconding soon after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail on Friday, a district official in Gaya said.
Rocky’s mother Manorma Devi, suspended Janata Dal-United MLC told a police team that visited her house to arrest her son following the Supreme Court cancelled his bail, that he will surrender to the court soon.
Rocky Yadav is accused of shooting a Class XII student for overtaking his SUV while he was coming back home from a birthday party on May 7 this year. He had been untraceable after the apex court stayed his bail and thereby compelling his arrest.
“As soon as the Supreme Court judgement reached us the police raided Rocky Yadav’s house in AP Colony, but did not find him there,” the SP said.
Besides the Aditya murder case, Rocky is also facing a case under the Excise Act for recovery of liquor bottles from his mother Manorama Devi’s house.
Blocking implementation of the Patna High Court’s October 19 order that granted Rocky bail, an apex court bench of Justice S.A. Bobde and Justice Ashok Bhushan observed: “The charge sheet has already been filed in the case and this may go against you.”
