Bihar: Man tied to tree, wife gang-raped in front of him

Patna, June 15: A group of people tied a man to a tree and allegedly gang-raped his wife near Sondiha village under Koch police station of Bihar’s Gaya on Wednesday.

On the related note, Police detained 20 people and out of which 2 have been identified. Further probe is underway.

The woman’s medical examination report is awaited.

Speaking to news agency ANI, SSP Gaya Rajiv Mishra said “Man tied to a tree while his wife was allegedly gang-raped in Gaya’s Konch on 13 June, the couple’s daughter was also accompanying them”

‘We detained 20 men in this regard, out of which 2 have been identified. Further probe is underway”, he added.

According to media reports, the horrific incident took place when a middle-aged medical practioner, who runs a private clinic at Bahwalpur village , was returning to his village with his wife and a daughter on a two-wheeler.

Srinagar, Dec 13: Two terrorists were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. The search operation is underway.

The encounter started at Baratkalan-Gund Mohalla of Sopore Yesterday.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Brath Kalan village of Sopore following information about the presence of 1-2 terrorists on Wednesday.

20 trains cancelled for 2 months in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Dec 13: The North-Eastern Railways (NER) has cancelled 20 trains, including eight trains plying in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur and Basti divisions, due to fog and inclement weather, an official said on Thursday.

These cancellation will come into effect from Thursday and continue till February 15, 2019.

Besides the cancellation, trips of 14 trains have also been reduced, according to the official.

Some of the trains that have been cancelled are Gorakhpur-Amritsar Express, Amritsar-Gorakhpur Express, Sitamarhi-Anand Vihar Express, Anand Vihar-Sitamarhi Express, Jainagar-Amritsar Express, Allahabad-Basti Express and Basti-Allahabad Express.

Editors Guild suspends MJ Akbar, Tarun Tejpal

New Delhi, Dec 12 : The Editors Guild on Wednesday suspended the membership of journalist-turned-politician M.J. Akbar, who has been accused of sexual harassment by a number of women journalists.

“A majority of the members suggested that the membership of Akbar should be suspended. The majority view is that Akbar should be suspended from the Guild till such time that the court case he has filed is concluded,” the Guild said in a statement.

The Guild also suspended the membership of former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal who has been charged with raping a junior colleague in Goa in 2013.

Accused of sexual misconduct by over a dozen former colleagues, Akbar stepped down as the Minister of State for External Affairs in October. The allegations were first levelled by journalist Priya Ramani, against whom he later filed a defamation case.

Akbar was also accused of committing “rape” by US-based journalist Pallavi Gogoi.
