New Delhi, 20 Aug: Flood situation continued to wreak havoc in Bihar as the death toll rose to 202 and number of flood-affected people increased to 121.56 lakh, According to Bihar disaster management department.
As per additional secretary, disaster management department (DMD), Anirudh Kumar, 202 people lost their lives in an unprecedented flood.
The maximum number of deaths reported from Araria (42), Sitamarhi (31) and Champaran (29).
A total of 121.56 lakh people in 1,842 panchayats under 164 blocks in 18 districts have been affected by the catastrophe.
The Rohini, Gandak and Rapti rivers were flowing above the danger mark.
However, rescue teams such as NDRF, SDRF and Army were working to evacuate the marooned people.
So far 6,25,788 people had been evacuated safely from effected areas and 4,22,106 of them had been lodged in the relief camps.
