He said we never demanded anyone’s resignation, but since the corruption charges were levelled against the Rashtriya Janta Dal leaders, we have been asking to clarify those charges.
Kumar stated that we also met Tejashwi Yadav and told him that the image that is being created, he should atleast justify them, but it did not happen. We had followed the Gathbandhan Dharma and had also tried to save it. But now my conscience doesn’t allow me to continue this.
Not only this, Kumar also said he held talks with Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi on the matter to find the solution on this but now i have decided to quit, adding that his resignation has been accepted by the governor.
Soon after Nitish Kumar announced his resignation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted ” Congratulate Nitish Ji on joining fight against corruption. 125 crore people welcome and support this honesty.”
His resignation comes on day, when RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav ruled out the stepping down of his son Tejashwi Yadav as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.
