Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday asked for a high-level investigation into the encounter of eight SIMI members in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
“A probe is a must into the killing of the SIMI (Students Islamic Movement of India) activists as several questions have been raised,” Nitish Kumar told the media.
He asserted that the investigation shall be conducted by an impartial and independent agency.
“There are many unanswered questions regarding the gun battle and some videos have also surfaced that question the encounter. The state government should explain it,” Nitish Kumar added.
Earlier, former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav also demanded an investigation saying that it would clear the confusion of the encounter being a fake or real one. “Going by several reports, it appears that the killings by the police raised several unanswered questions,” he said.
