Bhopal: 3 education officials held for taking Rs 25,000 bribe in new currency


Bhopal, 16 Nov: Amid chaos and panic after the scrapping of old notes, a team of Lokayukta on Tuesday held three officers of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 in Bhopal.

The anti-corruption ombudsman team reportedly arrested the officers with the new currency notes.

On November 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that old currency notes Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 will no longer be legal tender to tackle corruption in the country.
