Bhagalpur Violence: Ashwini Choubey calls FIR a “piece of garbage”

Ashwini Choubey

Patna, March 26: Union Minister Ashwini Choubey on Monday described the FIR against his son Arijit Sashwat over Bhagalpur violence as a piece of garbage which was registered by corrupt officers of the area.

The FIR is nothing but a piece of garbage which was registered by corrupt officers of the area. My son made no mistake, Choubey told ANI.

Prior to this, BJP Senior leader Subramanian Swamy said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should be asked why is this happening. What is the police doing? the Police have the warrant, they should go ahead and catch him.

Earlier in a day, Shashwat why should I surrender? The court has issued a warrant but it also gives shelter.

On being asked why should he surrender as he is not absconding, he stated “Why should I surrender? The court has issued a warrant but the court also gives shelter. Once you go to the court, one will do what the court decides I have complete faith in the Indian judiciary. I am not an absconder, I am at my home”.

The Bhagalpur court on Sunday issued arrest warrants against Shashwat and eight others for allegedly inciting a communal riot in Bhagalpur district on March 17.

The incident took place, during a procession that was carried out by workers from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), RSS and Bajrang Dal, led by Choubey’s son Arijit Shashwat to mark the Hindu New Year.
