Turmeric-Powder

New Delhi, Oct 17: Beyond its spectrum of providing health benefits, ever wondered what miracles turmeric powder can do as a beauty regime?

This yellow spice has benefits beyond one’s imagination, feel experts.

Vrunda Lotlikar, Ayurveda expert, Birla Ayurveda lists some beauty benefits of turmeric:

* De-pigmentation: Application of turmeric with honey and lemon on the face for 20 minutes clears blemishes and reduces hyper-pigmentation. A paste of turmeric powder, triphala and chandana mixed with rose water acts as a natural defoliator and removes hyper-pigmentation marks from the body. Apply this paste thrice a week before bathing. For de-tanning, boil coconut oil with two rhizomes of turmeric powder. Daily application of this restores natural glow of the skin.

* Cures acne: Due to its anti-bacterial properties, turmeric is very effective in treatment and prevention of acne. It helps in destroying the acne causing bacteria, while also removing excess oil from the skin. Application of paste of turmeric, sariva (hemidesmus indicus), manjistha chandan (ruba cordifolia), yashtimadhu (liquorice) and neem over the face for half an hour clears blocked skin pores, improves facial blood circulation and prevents acne.

* Lighten skin: Turmeric is popularly used to successfully lighten the skin. A lightening face mask can be made by mixing turmeric with lemon juice. The natural skin-bleaching properties of lemon and the anti-oxidant properties of turmeric make it a powerful boosting combination.

* Cracked heels: Possessing great healing properties, turmeric can be used to soften heels. Application of aloe vera pulp with a pinch of turmeric over the heels soothes burning sensation of soles and heals cracked soles. For smooth heels, add a few drops of turmeric oil in 2 table spoons of coconut or castor oil and apply it over cracked heels every night.

Abhijit Narayanan, Senior Medical Officer, Dhathri Ayurveda Hospital, Kayamkulam also lists some benefits:

* Reduces stretch marks: Apply a paste of turmeric powder with khadir and triphala, mixed with almond oil three to four times a week before bathing. This helps in reducing stretch marks, reduces laxity of skin and tones the skin.

* Prevents wrinkles: Turmeric prevents reduction in skin elasticity caused due to chronic UVB exposure. It helps in healing and also slows the ageing process, keeping the skin supple and diminishing wrinkles. Apply a paste of turmeric powder mixed with yogurt. Rinse with water thoroughly after 20 minutes. Use this mask thrice a week for one month to notice an evident enhancement in your skin.

Mumbai, Sep 20 : Aarti Bajaj, first wife of Anurag Kashyap, has come out in support of the filmmaker, who has been accused by budding actress Payal Ghosh for sexual harassment.

On Sunday, Aarti took to her unverified Instagram account and posted a note describing the #MeToo allegations against Kashyap as the “cheapest stunts” she has seen till now.

“First wife here… You are a rockstar @anuragkashyap10. Keep empowering women as you do and the safest place you create for all of them. I see it first hand with our daughter. There is no integrity left and the world is full of losers and no brains baying for blood of anyone who has a voice.”

“If everybody spends the energy which they use in hating others constructively this world will be a better place. Cheapest stunt I have seen till now. First it made me angry then I laughed so hard as it cannot come more framed then this. I am sorry that you have to go through this .That’s the level of them. You stay HIGH and keep using your voice. We love you,” Aarti wrote.

Aarti and Anurag have a daughter named Aaliyah.

The controversy sparked off after Payal tweeted against Kashyap on Saturday.

“@anuragkashyap72 has forced himself on me and extremely badly. @PMOIndia @narendramodi ji, kindly take action and let the country see the demon behind this creative guy. I am aware that it can harm me and my security is at risk. Pls help,” Payal had tweeted.

Kashyap has denied such allegations.

“Kya baat hai, itna samay le liya mujhe chup karwane ki koshish mein. Chalo koi nahin. Mujhe chup karaate karaate itna jhooth bol gaye ki aurat hote hue doosri auraton ko bhi sang ghaseet liya. Thodi toh maryada rakhiye, madam. Bas yahi kahunga ki jo bhi aarop hain aap ke sab bebuniyaad hain (Wow, it took you so long to try to silence me. Never mind. In the process of silencing me, you dragged other women in this, despite being a woman. Please have some dignity, madam. All I want to say is that every allegation is baseless),” Kashyap wrote on Twitter.

Mumbai, Sep 20 : Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap”s friends from the film industry, Taapsee Pannu, Anubhav Sinha, Tisca Chopra and Surveen Chawla, have come out in support of the director after actor Payal Ghosh accused him of sexual harrassment.

On Saturday, Ghosh took to Twitter, claiming that the “Gangs of Wasseypur” director was sexually inappropriate towards her, an allegation Kashyap called “baseless”.

Ghosh, 30, tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in her tweet, requesting him to take action against the filmmaker.

Pannu, who collaborated with Kashyap on the 2018 romantic-drama “Manmarziyaan”, took to Instagram and wrote that the filmmaker was “the biggest feminist” she knew.

“For you, my friend, are the biggest feminist I know. See you on the sets soon of yet another piece of art that shows how powerful and significant women are in the world you create,” the “Thappad” actor wrote.

Sinha said the existence of the #MeToo movement is to amplify voices of harassed women and it should not be misused.

“It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #Metooindia. It is a very very very important movement that should not be misused for any other reason but the dignity of women,” Sinha tweeted, tagging Kashyap.

Chawla, who worked with the filmmaker on his two-part Netflix series “Sacred Games”, said the allegation against the director reeked of “opportunism”.

“Let them creep. Let them crawl. You my friend, as always stand tall. These false flag bearers of feminism… Opportunism? They dont honour men like you. For their lack of knowledge in knowing know who you really are, and claims they make, that are just so bizzare.”

In a subsequent tweet, Chawla said Kashyap”s legacy is stronger than the allegation.

“Your life, your work and the women you create with your craft…speak volumes about you. I have the privilege to know the real feminist in you, I take the honour my friend to stand for you! @anuragkashyap72,” she added.

Chopra, who featured alongside Kashyap and Chawla in the short film “Chhuri”, said the filmmaker was one of the biggest supporters of talent, be it men or women.

“To know my friend @anuragkashyap72 is to know generosity, honesty and decency at its core .. even a cursory look at his work reveals his worldview on women .. don”t know a bigger supporter of talent, men or women,” she tweeted.

Earlier on Sunday, in a series of Twitter posts in Hindi, Kashyap dismissed the allegations, dubbing it an attempt to “silence” him.

The 48-year-old director has been vocal against the criticism and vilification of Bollywood by celebrities and trolls online.

“Such a long time was taken to shut me up, never mind. (But) while shutting me up, you lied so much that you dragged other women also in it. Please maintain some dignity madam. All I will say is that all your allegations are baseless,” Kashyap tweeted.

Post her revelation, Ghosh found support in National Commission for Women, with its chairperson Rekha Sharma assuring the actor that the NCW will take cognisance of the case.
