Bareilly woman on foot-march to demand justice for murdered brother

UP, Aug 5, 2017: A woman from Bareilly Aruna Tyagi is on a foot-march from Ghaziabad to Lucknow to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to demand justice for her brother who was murdered in May.

As per the media reports, after not getting any help from the police and administration, she decided to travel 600 kilometer on feet.

She alleged that her brother Praveen was killed by a strongman of the village. “I begged to every cop for justice, I cried and pleaded before them but got not help. They asked me to submit Rs 10 lakhs for justice,” alleged Aruna.

I was not able to recognise my brother, Aruna told media on being asked by police that was she able to recognise Praveen.

She further affirmed that “Cops told me that I had no clue regarding the powerful people who put my brother in the grave and told that same will be my condition if I do not shut my mouth.”

“I will appeal Yogi Adityanath to punish the ones responsible for my brother’s death. Also, I will demand a CBI probe into the matter,” added disappointed Aruna.

15 killed as tractor falls in Telangana canal

Hyderabad, June 24 : Fifteen agriculture workers were killed and 15 others injured when a tractor plunged into a canal in Telangana’s Yadadri district on Sunday, police said.

The incident occurred when the tractor carrying the workers fell in Musi canal near Veligonda. The dead include 14 women and a boy.

According to the police, the tractor driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals. The death toll may rise as the condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical.

The agriculture workers were on their way to nearby fields for sowing when the incident took place. Police personnel and revenue workers with the help of locals retrieved the bodies from the canal.

State Energy Minister Jagdish Reddy visited the accident site. He told reporters that a probe would be conducted into the incident. He assured all help to the families of the deceased and to the injured.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has expressed shock over the incident. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and directed officials to provide best medical care to the injured.(IANS)

Army major arrested in Meerut for allegedly killing another officer’s wife

New Delhi, June 24: An Indian Army Major was arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Sunday after the wife of another officer was found dead on Saturday with her throat slit on a street in the Delhi Cantonment area.

Army Major’s wife was found with her throat slit near Brar Square in the Delhi Cantonment area on Saturday. She had left home on Saturday morning for a physiotherapy session at the Army’s Base hospital in Delhi Cantonment but after half-an-hour later, she was found dead, police said.

Major Nikhil Handa, who is currently posted in Nagaland’s Dimapur , has been arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, is being brought to Delhi for further investigation.

 

Major Handa left Delhi in a Honda City car after allegedly murdering the woman, police said.
Police on Saturday had said that the accused had allegedly run a car over her face to make the incident appear as an accident.

Naxals uproot tracks, derail goods train in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada

Dantewada, June 24 :The engine and eight wagons of a goods train derailed and fell off a bridge on the Kirandul-Visakhapatnam route in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Sunday .

Dantewada Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said, “Naxals removed tracks to disrupt rail traffic.”

“The incident occurred when Maoists uprooted tracks between Bhansi and Kamaloor, leading to derailment of its engine and eight wagons that fell off a bridge on a small rivulet,”he added.

The incident happened between Bhansi and Kamalur area of the district. After the derailment, the wagons fell off a bridge.Dantewada is a Naxal hot-bed where even recently 7 CRPF jawans were killed by the ultras.

After receiving information, a team of security personnel and railway officials rushed to the spot to restore services, the SP said.

The investigation is on as some sheets of papers have been recovered from the spot.
