The video clip of a boy being tortured by a village headman in front of his mother with his hands tied up at Kajiyatal village in Muradnagar upazila for not showing due respect to him has gone viral on social media site Facebook, triggering an outcry.
It was seen in the video footage that Raju Chandra, 12, son of Rakhal Chandra of the village, made to lie on the ground after tying his hands and taking off his shirt. Village headman Abu Taher was kicking on his face and chest indiscriminately in front of his mother.
Screaming of the victim and repeated requests of his mother failed to deter Abu Taher from inflicting the inhuman torture on the boy.
Failing to prevent the torturer, the victim’s mother was seen standing with tears rolling down her cheeks.
Locals claimed that Raju was tortured on Wednesday evening for not showing respect to Abu Taher.
Victim’s brother Sajal Chandra said he filed a case with Muradnagar Police Station after failing to get justice from the local elite.
Describing the incident as inhuman, Chairman of Darora union parishad Mohammad Shahjahan expressed the belief that the administration will see the matter with due importance.
AKM Manzur Alam, officer-in-charge of the police station, said they were trying to arrest the accused.
