Kuala Lumpur, June 9: Bangladesh created history by defeating six-time Asia Cup champions India in the thrilling final of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament by 3 wickets.
India set up Bangladesh the total of 113 runs to win with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur scoring 52 runs. Bangladesh bowlers Khadija Kubra and Rumana Ahmed scalped two wickets each as India posted a lowly 112/9 at the end of the innings.
Bangladesh kept losing wickets at regular intervals with Poonam Yadav taking four wickets but kept the pace to score more runs.
The women in blue sealed a spot in the final by comfortably beating arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets in the virtual semi-finals on Saturday.
India have so far won all the six edition, while Bangladesh are making their maiden appearance in the final.
