Rajyasabha MP and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal has questioned the alleged sudden and unnatural death of the judge Brij Gopal Harkishan Loya of special CBI court in Sohrabuddin encounter case.
The special CBI judge was presiding the trial of BJP president Amit Shah and several top Gujarat police officers for the encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and his wife Kauser Bi.
The case of Loya’s unnatural death has been doing rounds since a report published in a mainstream magazine called The Caravan stating that the family is alleging that Loya’s death and other facts provided by the investigating are contradictory of each other.
In his twitter account, the Congress leader and a pronounced lawyer Sibal has appealed to the judiciary to action and join the dots, not for others but for its own system. In his tweet, he stated “Chilling revelations. Judge Loya may not have died of a heart attack. Judges silent. Afraid ? Why ? At least protect your own if not us.”

Earlier the retired chief justice of Delhi High Court AP Shah has asked for an investigation into the matter regarding Judge Loya’s sudden death. In an interview to NDTV, he said, “His family feels very strongly that there was some foul play in his death. Now there was a long list of circumstances starting from the fact that there was blood on his clothes, and somebody signed the postmortem report as it is. They feel that there is something wrong with the conclusion that he died of cardiac arrest.”
