The Modi government has been adopting double standards while dealing with protests of Jammu and Kashmir and others including Padmavat. Seeing the different treatment meted out to the protesters of Srinagar and Padmavat, Dalit actrivists and Bhim Army members have now planned for a ‘Jail Bharo’ Andolan in Saharanpur, demanding the immediate release of their jailed founder and leader Chandrashekhar Azad.
Karni Sena goons took to vandalism in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Karni Sena speared by Rajput community burnt buses and attacked school bus by pelting stones just 15kms from the national capital in Gurgaon. The arson and violence in the streets of Haryana showed the failure of law and order situation under Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government in the state.
But the Modi government and the chief ministers of violence affected states did not permit for the use of pellet guns against the protesters of Padmavat. More so, protesters against period drama Padmavat were not even criticised by the government nor were they taken into custody for rioting.
Inspite of the apex court verdict on the release of Padmavat, the four BJP ruled states continue to ban the film and showed their inability to maintain peace and public order.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been constantly betraying the people of India who believed and voted for him .In the name of doing service to the country, Modi has been protecting his vote bank by supporting anti-social people such as:
1 During violent protests following the conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the head of spiritual group Dera Sacha Sauda,in which 29 people were killed. Gurmeet is the same person who assured and fulfilled his promise of giving his supporters support to BJP during Haryana assembly elections, which brought it to power.
2. The BJP governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan arereluctant to act against Karni Sena, which claims to represent the Rajput community. There is a tacit understanding between the Rajputs and the Bharatiya Janata Party that the community will vote for the party in 2018 and 2019 Lok Sabha Polls.
Where as BJP deals with its criticism as sedition such as
1) In the case of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on the charge of sedition. But in March 2017,Delhi Police has failed to conclusively prove charges of sedition slapped on Kanhaiya Kumar in connection with an event held at the campus on February 9,2016.
The situation in Jammu and Kashmir worsened after security forces used heavy handedness to contain the protests and fired pellet guns that led to scores of people turning blind and critically injured.
The fragile peace process in the Valley is doomed to collapse as recently some 200 stone-pelters attacked an Army convoy in Shopian, and the Army fired at the mob, killing two youth and injuring another eight.
Furious over the incident, chief minister Mehbooba Mufti called up defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying the killing of every civilian impairs the political process in the state which has been put on track after much difficulty.
Post Bhima Koregaon violence, police targeted and terrorised dalits across Maharashtra. Lakhs of Dalits peacefully celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon battle, an occasion of great importance to the community.
Another instance of abandoning Dalit community by the Saffron party, Chandrashekhar, the Dalit leader has been languishing in jail over the past eight months under the National Security Act (NSA).
Making a scathing attack at the BJP for its alleged bias against Dalit activists, Bhim Army spokesperson Ravi Kumar Gautam said, “Men from the Karni Sena are offended by a movie. They openly threatened of violence in the country. They even waved their flags while attacking a school bus with children inside. Far from acting against the Karni Sena, BJP leaders supported them wholeheartedly. On the other hand, Chandrashekhar, who has always advocated peaceful protests, is being kept in jail as if he was a terrorist”.
Karni Sena came out in its true colours by denying its involvement in the incidents of violence, and said it would intensify its agitation and continue it till the film “Padmaavat” is banned.
