Anurag Thakur joins Territorial Army as Lieutenant

29 July : The 41-year-old BJP MP from Hamipur Himachal Pradesh joined the Territorial Army as lieutenant on Friday morning.

Thakur is attached to the Sikh regiment and will undergo a month-long rigorous training with the regiment in between the parliamentary sessions and his duties as the BCCI chief.

Most of the time he get dressed in a kurta pajama in Parliament. However, this morning he surprised his colleagues turning up in army fatigues. Thakur also had a fashionable beard but he has now shaved it off as he is set to join the territorial army.

Thakur is attached to the Sikh regiment and will undergo a month-long rigorous training with the regiment in between the parliamentary sessions and his duties as the BCCI chief.

“I am very excited. It is a dream come true for me. I always wanted to wear the (military) uniform and contribute to the country’s security but could not,” he said.
“I am keenly looking forward to my training and serving the country,” he added.
