New Delhi : Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel said the killing of the journalist Journalist Vikram Joshi is shocking and another example of the breakdown of law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
“It is also a grim reminder of how the media has been systematically intimidated since the last six years,” he alleged on Twitter.
“Our condolences to the family of Mr Joshi. We stand behind fearless journalism,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad-based journalist Vikram Joshi, who was shot in the head by assailants on Monday, succumbed to injuries early Wednesday.
Journalist Vikram Joshi had lodged a complaint with the police alleging harassment of his niece on July 16 and was shot at around 10.30 pm on Monday near his home in Vijay Nagar area, according to officials.
Journalist Joshi worked with a local daily in Ghaziabad.
So far, nine people have been arrested in connection with the case, according to the police. Two cops have also been suspended.
