Amitabh Bachchan Aamir Khan Thugs of Hindostan

Mumbai, Sep 25: The year’s most highly anticipated film “Thugs of Hindostan” starring Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu.

The film’s director Vijay Krishna Acharya says he wants to share the movie with the audiences across India.

The stars have shot a video featuring them as they announce the film’s release in Tamil and Telugu. The video will show them speaking in the two languages to announce the news.

“We are a nation of film lovers, and films have often been a cultural glue that binds us all in a way that transcends geography. We hope that in ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, the audience will find a story that is universal in appeal and unique in its presentation,” Acharya said in a statement.

He added: “The joy of watching the dream casting of the two undisputed masters of acting Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in an action-adventure spectacle is the feast that we invite our audience to this Diwali.”

The director said he wants to share the film with everyone.

“And if there’s one thing we Indians know as a family is to share, and it is in this spirit that we’d like to share our film with our audiences across India. This Diwali let the Thugs entertain you all over Hindostan,” he added.

Rohan Malhotra, Vice President, Distribution, Yash Raj Films, said: “With an unprecedented casting, a never seen before visual experience and a story that resonates with a festival release, Thugs has become one of the most awaited.

The trailer for the film will release on Yash Chopra’s birthday on September 27.

“Thugs Of Hindostan is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’ and is about a gang who posed a serious challenge to the British Empire in India (then known as Hindustan or Hindostan) during the early 19th century.

The film which also stars Katrina Kaif, Fatima Sana Shaikh is all set to light up this Diwali with its release on November 8.

Shweta Basu Prasad: India is hung up on idea of fairness

Shweta Basu Prasad

New Delhi, Sep 22 : Actress Shweta Basu Prasad feels skin colour has nothing to do with beauty but says India is hung up on the idea of fairness.

“India is hung up on fairness because we have had white people ruling us for years, and maybe we think that those who are fair are ‘superior’,” Shweta said.

“I certainly don’t think skin colour has anything to do with beauty and it is sad to read matrimonial ads where the girl’s skin colour is considered far more important than her academic abilities or cultural values. Fairness beauty creams must be banned,” she added.

Talking about her definition of beauty, she said: “My definition of beauty is beyond what is physical. Beauty is what is within. What you are as a person is more important than all extended nails or eyebrows or the makeup. Everybody around me is beautiful for me because I have more beautiful people in my life than those who simply look beautiful.”

On the work front, the actress was seen in Zee Theatre’s teleplay “Gudiya Ki Shaadi”, which takes a light-hearted jab at the standards of beauty set by society, especially with regards to women. She essayed the role of Gudiya, a confident girl who is proud of her skin colour.

The teleplay also stars Virendra Saxena, Samta Sagar, Ishtiyaq Khan, Saroj Sharma, Neha Saraf, Vikram Kochhar, Anveshi Jain.

Actress Alaya F on how lockdown provided ‘a great learning curve’

Alaya F

Mumbai, Sep 22 : Actress Alaya F. is having fun being a force unto herself, as she continues to work from home.

From styling her shoots, taking virtual dance classes, bettering her craft and watching documentaries to understand the nuances of different characters and creating her digital series, Alaya has been occupied these past months.

“I had certain work commitments to fulfill even during lockdown. As actors, our nature of work requires us to be in front of camera and usually we have a whole team of professionals to make us look our best. But due to the lockdown and the safety guidelines that were put in place, it became difficult to have a team so I had to get creative and do my own hair and make-up and even styling for shoots. I even did a cover shoot by myself at home,” said the young actress.

“On social media I have to stay active and I also have brand commitments so for everything on my social media, not only hair and make-up and styling is done by me, but also the creating video concepts, shooting them and editing them, it’s all done by me. Everything now takes five times the work it would have taken but it’s been a great learning curve. It’s given me the chance to experiment and go out of my comfort zone in a lot of ways. It also always kept me occupied and busy and overall I must say, it’s been a lot of fun,” she added.

Alaya made her Bollywood debut with “Jawaani Jaaneman” earlier this year.

Payal Ghosh on why she named Huma Qureshi, Mahie Gill in MeToo charge against Anurag Kashyap

Payal Ghosh Huma Qureshi Anurag Kashyap MeeToo

Actor Huma Qureshi, who worked with Anurag Kashyap on Gangs of Wasseypur, has said that she is furious at her name being dragged into accusations of sexual misconduct made against the filmmaker, by an actor named Payal Ghosh.

Huma took to Twitter on Tuesday to share her statement, in which she emphasised on the need to uphold the sanctity of the Me Too movement. She wrote, “Anurag and I last worked together in 2012-13 and he is a dear friend and an extremely talented director. In my personal experience and to my knowledge he has neither misbehaved with me or anyone else. However, anyone who claims to be abused must report it to the authorities , the police and the judiciary.”

She continued, “I chose not to comment till now because I don’t believe in social media fights and media trials. I feel really angry at being dragged into this mess. I feel angry not just for myself but also every woman whose years of hard work and struggle gets reduced to such baseless conjecture and allegations in their workplace. Please let’s refrain from this narrative. It is the joint responsibility of women and men both to carefully protect the sanctity of #MeToo. This is my final response. Please do not approach me to make any more statements on this matter.”

On Saturday, Payal took to Twitter, and tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wrote, “Anurag Kashyap has forced himself on me and extremely badly. Narendra Modi ji, kindly take action and let the country see the demon behind this creative guy. I am aware that it can harm me and my security is at risk. Pls help!” Payal, in an interview to Bollywood Hungama, claimed that he told her that female actors such as Richa Chaddha, Mahie Gill and Huma would perform sexual favours for him and he expected the same from her.

Anurag’s lawyer issued a statement denying the allegations. The statement read: ‘My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest. It is sad that a social movement as important as the #metoo movement has been co-opted by vested interests and reduced to a mere tool for character assassination. Fictitious allegations of this nature seriously undermine the movement and seek to unconscionably trade upon the pain and trauma of actual victims of sexual harassment and abuse. My client has been advised about his rights and remedies in law and intends to pursue them to the fullest extent – Priyanka Khimani.”

Several film personalities, including Mahie, who also worked with Anurag on Gangs of Wasseypur, have provided testimonials for Anurag. Kangana Ranaut, however, has voiced her support for the accuser.

Both of Anurag’s ex-wives — film editor Aarti Bajaj and actor Kalki Koechlin — have slammed the allegations, and have hailed Anurag as a champion of women both on and off the screen. “Dear Anurag,” Kalki wrote in a statement. “Don’t let this social media circus get to you, you have fought for the freedom of women in your scripts, you’ve defended their integrity in your professional space as well as in your personal life. I have been witness to it, in the personal and professional space you have always seen me as your equal, you have stood up for my integrity even after our divorce, and you have supported me when I felt unsafe in a work environment even before we got together.”
