New Delhi, Aug 25, 2017: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah and Union Minister Smriti Irani took oath as Rajya Sabha members on Friday.
Vice President and Upper House chairman Venkaiah Naidu administered the sworn-in ceremony.
With this, Shah has made his maiden entry into the house, while Irani will enter for her second term. Both had won their seat from Gujarat in August by clinching 46 votes each.
The BJP lacks majority in the house. Shah’s entry into the Rajya Sabha is likely to give a a boost to the party.
