Amit Shah in Indore: Protests erupt against SC/ST Act

Indore, Oct 6: As soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah reached Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Saturday, several people came out on to the streets shouting slogans against Shah. They have been protesting against the amendment to the SC/ST Act.

The police has arrested the protesters.

While Shah was welcomed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other leaders.

After praying at the Mahalakshmi Temple, Shah will begin the election campaign in the state. He will address the party workers at the Dussehra Maidan.

From Indore, Shah will go to Jhabua where he will address a group of tribal people. In Jaora he will meet a farmers’ group, and in Ujjain the party workers.

The Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party received a major setback in poll bound Madhya Pradesh on Friday  as  24 party leaders have resigned en-masse a day ahead of President Amit Shah’s trip in Jhabua district.

The development occurred when reports emerged that Manohar Sethia, BJP’s district President has been asked to leave the party and instead appointed Om Prakash Sharma as its district BJP president. Sethia was appointed as the district BJP president six months ago.

Furious over the party’s decision, two dozens office-bearers tendered their resignation last night in support of Sethia.

But reports are also being circulated that ex-district BJP president Manohar Sethia reached Indore last night and tendered his resignation citing health reasons.
