Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated on April 14 every year to mark the birth anniversary of Dalit leader Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, who is remembered as “The Father of the Constitution of India” and the man who fought for the oppressed.
The country commemorates his 127th birthday on Saturday.
Popularly known as Babasaheb, Ambedkar showcased his versatility as an Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer who inspired the Dalit Buddhist Movement.
Babasaheb also campaigned against social discrimination against untouchables and also supported the rights of women and labourers.
