New Delhi, Jan 12: Senior Congress leader Malikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that the decision to remove Alok Verma as the CBI Director was one-sided.

Kharge, who was also a part of three member High Power Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and gave a dissent view, told media ” Without calling a meeting, Director was removed. Even after calling a meeting, all documents weren’t presented before committee”.

“Action was taken only on basis of CVC report. It didn’t include Justice Patnaik’s report”, he added.

Kharge also made it clear that he was not favouring anyone but the action should be taken as per the law.

“We aren’t in favour of anyone, but we want that we should move as per the law. We aren’t defending Alok Verma”, the Congress stated.

He further said that “the question is about the procedure of appointment and termination. Both sides should be heard. Only one report was seen and the decision was taken”.

Verma was dismissed as the CBI Chief by the panel within 72 hours of his reinstatement by the Supreme Court.
