Allison, Honjo jointly awarded Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine


Sweden, Oct 1: The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded jointly to Doctor James P. Allison of the United States and Doctor Tasuku Honjo of Japan,” for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation”.

Secretary-General of the Nobel Committee, Thomas Perlmann announced the award on Monday.

Last year, three Americans clinched the prize for work in identifying genes and proteins that work in the human body’s biological clock, which affects functions including sleep patterns, blood pressure and eating habits.
