Dec 24 : All India Muslim Law Board members met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and sought cooperation to fight against proposed Muslim Women Bill (Triple Talaq) 2018 in the Parliament.

ChiefMinister Naidu  has assured his cooperation over the issue.

The Lok Sabha will take up the Muslim Women (Protection of rights on Marriage) Bill 2017 , better known as the triple talaq bill on Decmber 27 for passage.

Congress and the other like minded parties have reiterated that the amended Bill still only serves to punish Muslim men and are set to oppose the criminality clause in the bill .
The opposition will stall it once again in the Upper House with positions of most of the political parties largely unchanged.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the government is committed to making a law on triple talaq despite facing “hurdles” and resistance.

Senior AIMPLB member Qasim Rasool Illyas said, “We have decided that our members will be approaching leaders of opposition parties especially Rajya Sabha members so that the Triple Talaq ordinance is not cleared by the Parliament. This ordinance goes against the interests of Muslim women.”
