SEp 23 : Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into Rafale deal.

Akhilesh statement came after the Rafale deal debate  has picked up pace again after  former French President Francois Hollande  told a French media outlet that the Indian government proposed Anil Ambani’s Reliance Defence to grab the offset contract for the deal to buy 36 Rafale warplanes from Dassault Aviation.

“We demand a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Rafale deal, without a JPC the truth will not come out, the issue has now become global,” Akhilesh Yadav said while addressing an SP rally at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Mulayam Singh Yadav shared the stage with his son Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday but also appealed to workers to strengthen the party and ensure victory for its candidates in next year’s polls.

Rahul Gandhi made a blistering attack on PM Modi,”former French president Francois Hollande is calling the Prime Minister of India a thief” and that the PM needs to break his silence.

“It is very important for PM now to either accept Mr. Hollande’s statement or state that Mr. Hollande is lying. He must tell us what the truth is. It is a question of the dignity of the office of Prime Minister. It is the question of the future of our jawans and the Air Force,” Gandhi said on Saturday, adding that for the first time, “an ex-French President has called our PM a thief”
