Akhilesh denied entry to Prayagraj, SP leaders lathicharged during protest

Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow, Feb 12: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was allegedly stopped at Lucknow airport on Tuesday from boarding a flight to Prayagraj, where he wanted to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the Students Union at Allahabad University.

The denial also triggered protests in Prayagraj, in which Samajwadi Party leaders and workers were lathicharged by the police.

As per the media reports, SP MP Dharmendra Yadav was among the partymen who were injured in the clashes.

“Allahabad University ka karyakaram maine bahut mahino pehle bhej diya tha.27 Dec ko pehla karyakram bheja gaya tha jisse ki agar koi shikayat hogi toh uski jankari mil jayegi”, Yadav told media.

The former Chief Minister further said that “the BJP and all their supporters were considering this Allahabad University elections as their own elections. Govt and all the ministers were contesting the polls. Whenever CM went to university, he must have been ordering his people that these polls must not be lost”.

Yadav also alleged that three bombs were exploded where stage was set for the event and neither the state government nor administration took any action against the ones who did it.

“Now when event is round the corner,3 bombs were exploded where stage was set. Neither govt nor administration took any action against the ones who did it. In democracy,it never happens that administration helps in throwing of bombs when event is about to take place”, he added.
