Ajay Devgn says he is doing remake of Tamil movie ‘Kaithi’

Mumbai, Feb 28 (IANS) Actor Ajay Devgn on Friday confirmed that he will star in the remake of the Tamil movie “Kaithi”.

“Yes, I’m doing the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaithi. Releases on February 12, 2021. @RelianceEnt @DreamWarriorpic @ADFFilms @Shibasishsarkar #SRPrakashbabu @prabhu_sr @Meena_Iyer,” Ajay tweeted.

The film is set to release on February 12, 2021.

“Kaithi” revolves around an ex-convict who is on his way to meet his daughter for the first time. He is accompanied by an injured police officer and, before he reaches his destination, he has to face a gang of drug lords.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the Tamil original, which starred Karthi in the lead role, received positive reviews from critics and worked well at the box office.

The film will be co-produced by Reliance Entertainment along with the Chennai-based film company Dream Warrior Pictures, founded by brothers S.R. Prakashbabu and S.R. Prabhu.

Prabhu had said that “Kaithi” is a film with “no heroine, no songs and 100 per cent action”.

“Released with all these odds on the Diwali festival day, ‘Kaithi’ came out as a box office blockbuster among the family audience in South. We’re delighted to join hands with Reliance Entertainment for the Bollywood remake. This high-octane film will surely entertain the audience pan India,” Prabhu had said.

Vicky Kaushal donates 1 crore to COVID-19 relief funds

Mumbai, March 31 (IANS) Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal is donating Rs 1 crore to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relief fund and Chief Minister’s (Maharashtra) relief fund, to lend support to the ongoing battle with COVID-19 pandemic.

Vicky on Tuesday took to Instagram, where he shared a note that read: “While I am blessed enough to be seated with my loved ones in the comfortsof my home, there are many who are not as fortunate.

“In this time of crisis, I humbly pledge to contribute an amount of Rs. 1 crore to PM-CARES and Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund. We are in this together and we’ll win this together. Let us all do our bit for a healthier and stronger future.”

Many Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Diljit Dosanjh, Anushka Sharma among many others have come forward to contribute monetarily in these times of crisis.

Kanika tests COVID-19 positive for 5th time

Lucknow, March 31 (IANS) Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor’s fifth sample test for COVID-19 has also come out to be positive.

Sample tests are being carried out on the corona patients every 48 hours.Kanika is presently admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS).

Director of the institute, Prof. R. K. Dhiman said that the singer’s condition was stable and there was no cause for worry.

Kapoor has tested positive for coronavirus for the fifth consecutive time.Kapoor has been in hospital for over a fortnight. On March 20, she herself announced on Instagram that she had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Her announcement caused a major scare in the country as she had been to parties attended by several bigwigs. The UK returned singer forced the political elite like former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant Singh into quarantine.

This was followed by the chain effect forcing other leaders like Derek O’ Brien, Anupriya Patel, Sanjay Singh and many others to go into self-isolation.

Kapoor has faced flak for not revealing her travel history and not going into self-isolation soon after arriving from London. The Uttar Pradesh government has also filed a case against her.

It all started when former BSP MP Akbar Ahmed Dumpy threw a birthday party on March 14, which was attended by many socialites and royals. In the list, were Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, Congress leader Jitin Prasada, Rajasthan’s former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and her MP son Dushyant Singh among others. And, among the others was Kanika Kappor also.

The party was one among the three hosted by the father-in-law of former Union minister Jitin Prasada which high profile dignitaries attended.The singer stayed at Shalimar Gallante in Mahanagar in Lucknow.

She also paid a visit to her uncle’s family in Kanpur. She mingled with neighbours and admirers across the length and breadth of Lucknow, even obliging for selfie requests.

Mumbai, March 30 : Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has pledged to donate Rs 20 lakh to lend support to the ongoing battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

Diljit took to Twitter, where he mentioned that the priority is to help the country.

“I’m committed to donating 20 Lakh rupees to the PM-CARES Fund. Our Priority Now should be to help our country get through this tough time. #TogetherWeCan,” he tweeted.

The government set up the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund, or the PM CARES Fund, with the objective of dealing with emergency situations such as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Contributors to the fund will enjoy tax benefits, it has been announced.

“People from all walks of life expressed their desire to donate to India’s war against COVID-19. Respecting that spirit, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund has been constituted. This will go a long way in creating a healthier India,” PM Modi announced in a tweet on Saturday.

The Prime Minister is the chairman of the trust that includes the home minister, the finance minister and the defence minister.
