Aircel Maxis case: Interim protection of P Chidambaram, son Karti extended till Nov 26


New Delhi, Nov 1: The Patiala House Court on Thursday extended the interim protection of senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram till 26 November in Aircel Maxis case.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini fixed 26 November for the next the hearing.

Later in a day, the CBI will file a reply on the anticipatory bail plea of P Chidambaram. Enforcement Directorate had filed the copy of reply on Wednesday.

The court was hearing anticipatory bail pleas of the father-son duo seeking protection from arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.

The ED is probing the Aircel-Maxis deal under the PMLA after taking cognisance of a 2011 Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) complaint in the case.

The agencies are investigating how Karti Chidambaram allegedly managed to get a clearance from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) in the Aircel-Maxis deal when his father P Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister in 2006.
