New Delhi, Oct 4: A section of the AIADMK’s parliament members on Tuesday walked out on streets to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and submitted a memorandum to constitute a Cauvery Management Board (CMB).
“Today (Tuesday) we handed over the memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Cauvery Water Management Board will be constituted quickly,” AIADMK parliamentarian M. Thambidurai said while briefing media after meeting Modi.
The move comes a day after the central government told the Supreme Court that it does not have the jurisdiction to direct it to set up the Cauvery Water Management Board as it was just a recommendation of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal and not binding on the government.
However, the central government earlier on September 30 had told the Top court that it has no objection in forming the CMB.
