Chennai, Feb 19: All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have an alliance for Lok Sabha elections, announced Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday.
BJP will contest on 5 seats in Lok Sabha elections and we will be contesting together in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry”, he said while addressing media along with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswamyand Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
Meanwhile, Goyal stated “We will support AIADMK in the by-elections on 21 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. We have agreed to contest elections in the leadership of OPS and EPS in state and in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in centr”.
On being asked about other parties like DMDK, Goyal told media that the alliance will take place in due course of time.
He said he will be meeting DMDK leader Vijayakant.
Earlier in the day, the AIADMK announced electoral pact with PMK, whereby the latter would fight in seven Lok Sabha seats and would also get a Rajya Sabha seat in 2019.
