Lucknow, Jan 3: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati on Tuesday announced the list of candidates who will contest in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
According to the reports, the total number of candidates announced are 403. 87 of the candidates are from Scheduled Castes (SCs), 97 are Muslim candidates, 106 from Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
Other than this, 66 Brahmin candidates, 36 from Kayasth community and 11 others from Vaishya and Punjabi Samaj have received BSP tickets to contest in the upcoming elections.
She also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi again over demonetisation, saying it continued to cause misery even after the end of the 50-day period.
Addressing the media here, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also asked the Prime Minister to seek forgiveness from the people for making them undergo so much distress.
