June 6, Tuesday: An angry mob burnt a police vehicle after the death of rumoured BJP Leader Nathuram Verma in Agra’s Mehra Naharganj village on late Monday night.
Earlier it was reported that Verma was a BJP leader but later Party’s District President Shyam Bhadoria and Fatehabad MLA Jitendra Verma said that Nathuram had no connection with the Bhartiya Janta Party.
Nathuram Verma was shot dead by his two friends after a heated argument. Convicts have been identified as Samar and Sudhir.
In retaliation to the death of Verma, angry villagers surrounded the convicts and beaten them in the presence of police. Later they pelted stones on the cops and burnt a police jeep.
Verma and his two friends were having a heated argument, which led to the killing of the BJP leader. As soon as we got information, a Police Response Vehicle with an inspector was deployed in the area. The inspector saw Sudhir and Samar being beaten up by the public. He tried to save them, but the public got agitated and thrashed him too,” Inspector General of Agra zone Ashok Muth Jai told news agency ANI.
