Presidential election: After Nitish, Yechury meets Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, April 21: After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury too met Congress President Sonia Gandhi to discuss the upcoming presidential elections and the need to field a joint opposition candidate.

Nitish Kumar met Gandhi here on Thursday to discuss larger opposition unity to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party in future elections, as well as the presidential polls.

Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader K.C. Tyagi described the meeting as a “courtesy call” but also said that Gandhi should take a lead in forging opposition unity for the presidential polls scheduled in July.

“JD-U wants that Gandhi should take the lead in fielding a united candidate,” Tyagi added.

President Pranab Mukherjee’s term ends in July.

Cong to build alternative narrative based on fairness: Chidambaram

Congress is for inclusive politics and it respects all Indians that extends even to the ruling party.

New Delhi, Dec 17 : Former Union minister P Chidambaram has said that the Congress will create an alternative narrative based on fairness, equal opportunity and jobs for the youth under the leadership of new party chief Rahul Gandhi.

In a series of tweets, Chidambaram said Gandhi’s inaugural speech yesterday laid down the contours of an alternative narrative that the Congress will put forward before the people.

“The Congress will build an alternative narrative based on fairness, equal opportunity, jobs for the youth, and lifting 250 million people out of poverty,” he said.

The senior Congress leader said that his party’s recall of India’s history was different from that of the BJP.

“Our idea of India is different from the BJP’s. Mr Rahul Gandhi called upon India’s youth to defend our idea of India, and I am sure the young will respond,” Chidambaram said.

In his first speech to party workers after his formal takeover as the Congress president yesterday, Gandhi set the tone of the future course and how the party would take on its arch-rival BJP.

He said the Congress is for inclusive politics and it respects all Indians that extends even to the ruling party.

Stating that his party brought India into the 21st century, Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was taking India back to the medieval times.

New Delhi,17th December: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has invited Party MPs, Office bearers,PCC leaders and Congress Legislative Party leaders for dinner on Sunday (17th December) evening in Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (16th December) took over the post of Congress President.

In his first speech as Congress President Rahul said that it is a ”It is with the deepest humility, that I accept this position (of Congress President) knowing that I will always be walking in the shadow of giants.”

BJP won’t win enough seats to form government in Gujarat: BJP leader Kakade

Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha and Bhartiya Janta Party leader Sanjay Kakde, has claimed that Congress will be the Major party with maximum votes in Gujarat elections.

Talking about Gujarat election the BJP rajyasabha member from Pune said, “BJP would’nt win enough seats to form its government in Gujarat.”

The Bjp leader also stated,”If Congress wins this election, it will be because the BJP did not conduct a good election campaign.”

Kakde has claimed that his team has done a survey of Gujarat election which are the basis of his purport.
