Srinagar, June 20: The Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in Chattisgarh, B.V.R. Subramanyam on Wednesday transferred to Jammu and Kashmir following the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the valley.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared his posting on Tuesday evening.
Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor’s Rule on Wednesday after President Ram Nath Kovind approved the measure.
The development took place after Mehbooba Mufti stepped down as Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) exit from its alliance with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Subramanyam is an IAS Officer of 1987 batch.
He has served as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s personal secretary from 2002 to 2007.
However, it’s not clear if Subramanyam would be appointed as an advisor to Governor N.N. Vohra or as the chief secretary of the state.
