Abhinav Bindra slams NRAI after shooters stranded at Delhi airport

Olympic Gold medalist Abhinav Bindra slammed the National Rifles Association of India (NRAI) for not coming out to help shooters, who were left stranded at Delhi Airport after their weapons, was not cleared for several hours by custom department on Tuesday.

In a series of tweets Bindra expressed his anger, he tweeted “Saddened to hear that the National Shooting Team is detained at The IGI Airport with the customs refusing to clear their guns.”

He further added “Chatted with a few athletes and the lack of support coming through from the national federation is pathetic.

Bindra questioned would this ever happen to our cricket team?

Shooters Gurpreet Singh and Kynan Chenai, along with other shooters landed at Indira Gandhi International airport early morning on Tuesday after participating in the Plzen Shooting Grand Prix (in Czech Republic) and shotgun World Cup in Cyprus.

Despite of being informed to the authorities that they had requisite export documents and done all the formalities when they left Plez , shooters had to wait for over 12 hours as the Delhi airport’s customs department did not clear their weapons.
