New Delhi, Aug 10 : The Supreme Court on Friday admitted an appeal filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the Allahabad High Court order acquitting Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the Aarushi Talwar and Hemraj double murder case.
The bench headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi ruled that the CBI’s appeal would be heard along with Hemraj’s wife’s pending petition.
Hemraj’s wife had also challenged the acquittal of the Talwars by the Allahabad High Court on October 12 , 2017.
Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was found dead inside her room in the Talwars’ Noida residence with her throat slit in May 2008. Talwars’ domestic help, 45-year-old Hemraj, who had gone missing, but his body was recovered from the terrace of the house two days later.
The CBI had challenged the order in May this year.
The court has also issued notice to the dentist couple, who were freed in October last year.
