AAP MLA from Mehrauli Naresh Yadav, who was booked for desecrating a holy book earlier this month, was today arrested by the Punjab police in Delhi.

A Malerkotla court in Punjab had issued arrest warrants against Yadav who is facing a Quran desecration case. Orders were issued by the Judicial Magistrate, Malerkotla on Saturday.

Earlier this month, Sangrur Police had summoned Naresh Yadav for interrogation over allegedly hatching the conspiracy to desecrate the Holy Quran.

Yadav has been defending himself in the desecration case which was registered by Malerkotla police on June 24 when pages of the holy book were found strewn on the road. Yadav was named in the FIR on July 2.

Yadav’s name, according to the police, was included in the FIR after the mastermind of the case Vijay Kumar during his interrogation told the police that Yadav had offered him RS 1 crore with instruction to desecrate the book.
