Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday accused Municipal Corporation of Delhi (North) for setting free Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel from the taxes of Rs 25 crores on a property owned by him.
The party opined that it is an economic burden on the civic body which is already short of cash.
AAP’s Delhi unit convener Dilip Pandey while addressing a press conference claimed that the decision by MCD was initially taken for the sake of the heritage building owned by Goel in Old Delhi but similar compromises were later stretched out to 749 buildings in the area, which will eventually result in the loss of 2,500 crores.
Pandey questioned MCD that how can they allow this as they are already swayed under loss and doesn’t even have enough money to pay salaries to its employees. Vijay Goel has misused his position as a minister.
“This is not only a case of economic corruption but also moral and political corruption. He should immediately step down,” Pandey added.
He also said that why the same is not being treated as an economic offence and why a case is not being registered against him.
“Till the time the probe is not over, Goel should not only step down as minister, but also resign as a Rajya Sabha MP,” Pandey added.
