Bhopal, 31 Oct: At least eight terrorists of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) managed to flee from Bhopal central Jail after killing a guard, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhoopendra Singh informed on Monday.
The inmates made a rope with the help of bed sheets to jump over the walls. Police have launched a combing operation, informed Arvind Saxena, SP Bhopal.
Madhya Pradesh Police is on high alert. The state border was sealed after the incident, security was tightened and a search operation is launched to nab the terrorists, the Home Minister said.
The jail break held between 12 and 2 a.m. on Sunday night when the state capital was celebrating Diwali.
Meanwhile, 5 jail officials including Jail superintendent have been suspended after the incident, informed Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh.
Police have also announced 5 lakh reward for giving information about prisoners.
