Washington, May 16: Sixty-four per cent of Americans support same-sex marriage and it should be legalised, poll mentioned.
According to Gallup poll, 3 per cent increase and the most support for gay marriage from the last year and 27 per cent increase since 1996.
Democrats (74 per cent), independents (71 per cent) and republicans (47 per cent) have been most accepting of legalising same-sex marriages, support among Democrats and independents in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
The Supreme Court in June 2015 legalised gay marriage nationwide which said the Constitution bars states from denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples, reports Politico news.
Despite the Supreme Court ruling some may still have objections to same-sex unions over moral or religious grounds.
