Islamabad, Sep 15: The Karachi-bound Awam Express collided with a freight train near Multan in early hours on Thursday in which at least six people dead and more than 150 reported injured, Railways sources said.
The incident held near Bucch railway station in Sher Shah area.The collision wrecked the engine and power van, and overturned four bogies of Awam Express while departing to Karachi from Peshawar, an official said.
Atleast 10 of the injured people are reported to be in critical condition. While three people who were trapped inside damaged carriages were also saved, said rescue workers.
A delay was initially noticed in response by rescue services due to Eid holidays, according to sources. Relief works were also affected as darkness prevailed in the area.
The passenger train was departing to Karachi from Peshawar.
