Rabat, July 28: In an major operation in morocco atleast 52 people have been arrested who are suspected to have links with the terror outfit Islamic State (IS), the Interior Ministry informed.
Moroccan security services led a coordinated operation on July 19 targeting 143 individuals suspected of having propensity to extremism and pledging allegiance to the IS, a statement said on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.
As per the ministry, the suspects used social networks to spread IS propaganda and send minors to conflict zones.
It also informed that the weapons, nail boxes and electric wires used to manufacture explosive devices have been seized during the operation.
The ministry added that since 2002, so far 159 terrorist cells have been busted, which had close links with terrorist groups that are active in Iraq and Syria, including the IS.
