New Delhi, April 8: An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman Islands on Monday morning.
The quake struck a depth of almost 10 km and took place at 7:24 am.
No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far.
The Andaman and Nicobar archipelago lies in the highly intense seismic zone and is often prone to earthquakes.
Earlier on April 1, nine medium intensity earthquakes, with a magnitude ranging from 4.7 to 5.2 had struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands all in a span of two hours.
