Delhi: A three-year-old boy died on Tuesday after he came under the wheels of his school van in front of his parents which dropped him outside his house in north Delhi.
The victim is identified as Aviral, was the student of John Wesley School who was dropped off by the driver Rahul Kumar by his school van around 1.30pm when the mishap took place.
“The driver in a hurry could not see the kid standing in front of the van and mowed him down. He was rushed to Parmanand Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said Madhur Verma, DCP (north).
Aviral looked around for his parents who were waiting for him at the bus stop across the road. He tried to rush before the speeding van and went under the wheel. The boy was dragged for several metres as the van driver failed to realise that Aviral had come under the wheels.
Aviral was taken to the nearest hospital, but he succumbed to his injury. On receiving information about the accident, police arrested the driver and charged him under Section 304 for causing death due to negligence.
“The family is not in a condition to talk. They have recorded their statements and the investigation is underway,” said a police officer.
