23 Maoists slayed in major Odisha-Andhra operation


Along with huge set of arms and ammunition, four AK 47 rifles have been seized from the possession of the Maoists.

In the fight against Left extremists, it is considered to be one of the big victories that 18 Maoists have been gunned down in Malkangiri forest area of Odisha-Andhra border early morning on 24 October, 2016. As per media sources the forces were combing the area after receiving information about the presence of some senior Maoist leaders holding a plenary session in the dense forest.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh DGP N Sambasiva Rao said, “Witnessing the presence of joint police party, the Maoists began firing at them and in retaliation 19 Maoists were killed while two of the Greyhound personal including the attack commander, a DSP rank officer, suffered injuries.”

Maoist Leader got killed

As per officials, those who are killed in this anti-naxal operation were among top Maoist leader and East divisional secretary. Additionally, eighteen bodies along with huge quantity of arms and ammunition including four AK-47 rifles, two SLRs and 2 INSAS rifles has been found from the encounter spot.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao has left for Visakhapatnam after receiving the information about the successful operation.
